It is an output of the brain and involves multiple systems interconnected and working on keeping us protected and safe. But, like any system, it can malfunction and lead to persistent or chronic pain that is now considered a disease of its own.
When living with chronic pain, we rapidly become aware of how pain affects every aspect of our existence including the way we breathe, the tension in muscles and body, our ability to feel our physiological state, our movements, body position, body image, our thinking patterns, emotions, and our relationships, to name a few. Yoga can help with each of these changes relating to pain as it takes advantage of the principles relating to neuroplasticity.
There is HOPE to overcome pain and live well again. Books on pain and yoga that you can use as a reference.
These practices not only lead to a deep and lasting state of peace, calm & serenity but towards an optimal level of health & resilience.
Yoga has transformed my life profoundly. From the very first moment I stepped into a yoga class and onto a mat, I felt something very special. I knew there was something more to yoga than just breathing and moving our body. Since, I have spent over a decade dedicating most of my time to understanding this very ancient practice.

Sundays from 12-2pm
STARTING SOON!
This Pain Care Yoga Foundations Course is an 8-week program combining Yoga and modern pain science to treat chronic pain.
First, we look into the science behind the pain alarm system. Understanding pain has proven to be an important step in the pain recovery process. Recent research has shown that understanding the neurobiology of pain has led to a reduction in pain intensity, disability, pain catastrophization and improved movement.
Together we will also establish SMART short and long term goals and set up a personalized daily pain care plan which includes taking breaks, techniques for calming and resetting the nervous system, "yoga exercises" to regain ease of movement and function. Having this daily practice can transform any aspect of pain - from the intensity to recurring flareups, to our energy levels, our mood and thoughts.
